01丨Celebrate the Lantern Festival


The Lantern Festival, also known as the Shangyuan Festival, the Little First Month, the New Year's Eve or the Lantern Festival, is on the fifteenth day of the first month of the lunar calendar. The first month is the first month of the lunar calendar. The ancients called "night" as "night". The fifteenth day of the first month is the first full moon night of the year, so the fifteenth day of the first month is called "Lantern Festival".


02丨Festival customs

China has a vast territory and a long history, so the customs of the Lantern Festival vary across the country. Among them, eating the Lantern Festival, watching the lanterns, dancing the dragon and dancing the lion are several important folk customs of the Lantern Festival.


1.Eat Yuanxiao

On the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, eat the Lantern Festival. The Lantern Festival is called "Tangyuan", which is filled with white sugar, rose, sesame, bean paste, cinnamon, walnut kernel, nuts, jujube paste, etc., and wrapped into a round shape with glutinous rice flour. It can be meat or vegetable, with different flavors. It can be boiled in soup, fried in oil, steamed, and has the meaning of reunion.


2.Festive Lantern

Lantern Festival is a traditional festival custom of the Lantern Festival, which began in the Western Han Dynasty and flourished in the Sui and Tang dynasties. After the Sui and Tang dynasties, the wind of lights prevailed throughout the ages and passed on to later generations. Before the arrival of the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, the streets were full of lanterns, flowers were everywhere, and the lights were flickering, reaching the climax on the evening of the fifteenth day of the first lunar month.


3.Guess Lantern Riddles

On the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, traditional folk would hang lanterns and set off fireworks. Later, some people wrote riddles on paper and pasted them on colorful lanterns for people to guess. Because riddles can enlighten wisdom and cater to the festival atmosphere, so many people respond, and then riddle guessing gradually becomes an indispensable program for the Lantern Festival.
